Physical and mental well-being
Aromatherapy is the practice of using essential oils therapeutically for physical and mental well-being. Essential oils are mostly extracted from medicinal plants, trees, resins, fruits and roots by distillation. In short these oils contain many healing properties. They are also natural and organic and contain no petrochemicals, parabens or additives. Furthermore they are highly effective medical remedies with analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, sedative, calmative, digestive, decongestant, anti-ageing or restorative properties.
How can an aromatherapy treatment help you?
In your treatment a synergistic blend of essential oils will be chosen specifically for you which can help with particular conditions including:
Stress & tension; anxiety
Insomnia
Depression
Headaches & migraines
Muscular aches & pains
Strains and sprains
Skin complaints – acne, eczema and psoriasis
Digestive complaints – constipation, diarrhoea, IBS
Respiratory conditions – coughs, colds and flu
Weakened or overactive immune system – CFS, ME
Gynaecological conditions – PMT, PMS and menopause
What oils will be used?
The essential oil pharmacy is a wide and varied, with many oils coming from different countries around the world. The oils that I use in my treatments are certified organic from suppliers that source sustainable oils with great care. Essential oils have many therapeutic properties, for example floral oils such as lavender, geranium or rose can be extremely beneficial for stress and tension. Similarly tree oils like Cedarwood or Frankincense can help treat coughs and colds. Likewise citrus oils can be uplifting and euphoric, for example Lemon and Mandarin. If you are suffering from digestive complaints herb oils such as Sweet Marjoram can ease cramps and spasms. The carrier oils in a blend are also extremely important as they are also absorbed into the skin. For instance dry skin will require more nourishing oils like jojoba or sea buckthorn and oily skin needs something lighter like Apricot Seed oil.
What to expect in your treatment?
After a detailed and confidential case history to understand your needs a synergistic blend of essential oils will be made for you. To clarify this blend of oils is specifically chosen for it’s therapeutic properties related to your condition. After that the essential oils will be diluted in to a carrier oil for massage or added to creams, clay masks, gels, or scrubs for you to take home. Finally your treatment will also be tailored to your needs, whether you have booked a pampering organic facial, a relaxing foot massage or if you require a deep tissue massage to ease tight muscles.
And don’t forget that the relaxing effect of aromatherapy and massage are cumulative! Taking some time out for you regularly will leave you better equipped to manage the stresses and strains of everyday life in between. Please feel free to text or email me any questions.
